Encouraging Each Other

“But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today so that none of you is hardened by sin's deception” (Hebrews 3:13 HCSB).

Brethren, we would like to share a word of encouragement with you to revive your faith and confidence in the Lord (Romans 1:11). It is true, as Christians, we are not always happy people, and oftentimes we are faced with conflicting feelings and emotions, which hinder our faith and walk with the Lord. Therefore, temperaments and negative attitudes form part of our daily experiences, and these emotions may lead us to shameful conduct if we follow its dictates. However, if we fully recognize and acknowledge these emotions as a hindrance to a sound relationship with others and God we would then have an opportunity to seek His help and overcome so that we can genuinely express ourselves with the marks of a true Christian (Romans 12:9-12). Let us not lose heart brethren our faithfulness and persistence will be duly rewarded.

God Uses Encouragement To Lift Burden Of Pain  

This message is a reminder that we are living in a broken world where hardship, suffering, pain, and oppression are a reality (John 16:33). Knowing that our journey through this life would not be easy, the Lord guaranteed us His peace to serve as our consolation (John 14:27). It is this peace from the Lord that should calm the storm of our ever rampant feelings of anxiety and uncertainty. This peace should also give us security (Psalm 112:7). I can recall, often if anyone of us had suffered some attack or experienced an unpleasant situation the Lord, the Lord would always offer some comforting words and it would be like a huge pain that has been lifted which was being replaced with a pleasant feeling of happiness (Revelations 21:4). If we are in the Word, nothing should discourage us to the point of losing our faith and confidence in God, thus encouragement from the Lord, His Word or from fellow brethren is a fresh breath of the Spirit to the burden of pain and to get us refocused on our journey.

Our Confidence

In the book of Hebrews, Paul states, “So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised” (Hebrews 10:35-36 HCSB). This is a very serious virtue to have; we should never be without confidence in this race of faith in Christ. Some time ago, I issued a rebuke to someone who did not take it well but allowed the rebuke to weaken her faith. The Lord, in a strong message of encouragement to the person, said that she should not allow the rebuke to conquer her faith and confidence, but to emerge stronger with a humble attitude.

We have another sister whom the Lord had rebuked for being an unfaithful witness. She was discouraged for a while by this, and whenever she was running some errands she would be tempted not to witness, which led to her being unfaithful in witnessing. However, after these rebukes, she took this in prayer to the Lord to teach her, help her, and give her the boldness to share. As she continued to pray and obey the Lord by witnessing (Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 14:21), she grew in her confidence and the Lord later commended her for being a faithful witness.

Oftentimes people hide in their shame after committing mistakes, and the fear of facing themselves and the world leads them to go “underground”. After enduring a humbling rebuke from the Lord, a sister resorted to self-hatred (self-loathing), thinking that her mistake had usurped her salvation. However, in loving-kindness the Lord restored her confidence by encouraging her to receive His forgiveness and forgive herself as well, and stop hating herself. This was a timely and life-changing encouragement that lifted her from self-rejection because she’d thought that the Lord had rejected her. I personally also received some strong rebukes from the Lord which could have left me paralyzed with resentment for the Lord, but instead He taught me to be humble and have a heart full of appreciation for His loving guidance. Brethren, from my experience, I have found that people often try avoiding those who have rebuked them, and this has led many Christians into the sin of harboring hateful feelings towards their brothers.

Admittedly, in this ministry, we have made some mistakes and some brethren that we work with made mistakes too. However, the spirit of humility and showing of our love and submission to Christ has resulted in a strong bond of true Christian love and respect for one another. When we serve to please the Lord, we must never be ashamed when we earn rebukes from our brothers or sisters in Christ (Ephesians 5:10).

Lifting Up Your Broken Brother

As Christians, we are encouraged to faithfully serve God and our fellow brethren, to “… be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:24-25 HCSB). As we mentioned in Be Passionate for Christ article, not showing up to fellowship meetings or leaving hinders others' passion and may cause love to grow cold which makes room for the sin holding grudges and hateful feelings. In messages to us, the Lord recognized the presence of some weak brethren amongst us, and He often reminded us not to look down on them but to encourage them in patience as they grow in their faith and understanding in the Lord. It is true that our good confidence in the Lord can sometimes blind us, and in our display of superior faith, we expect some weak brethren in our midst to be like us. This shows our intolerance towards our fellow man; we are expected to act maturely by patiently guiding the misguided and weak brothers and sisters (1 Thessalonians 5:14).

As we shared in our recent article on the Joy of Knowing the Lord Jesus Christ when a Christian starts losing their first love, their joy fades and the excitement which gripped them at the beginning of their conversion turns into a faithless motion, where he or she pretends that all is well, masking the reality that they have become a sinking ship. This kind of attitude renders one a spent force, defeated, and with depleted energy marking the end of their confidence in Christ.

The Courage of the Oppressed

Great men of God have often found courage in the Lord, and their faith and confidence gave hope to those around them (1 Samuel 30:6). We may recall that the life of the young boy, Joseph, who was alone in a foreign country, separated from the support of his family. However, he found the courage and a trusted friend in the God of his fathers, and his faith led to the preservation of nations (Genesis 50:20). Likewise, when Daniel was being persecuted and oppressed by the jealousies of his colleagues, he found no one to comfort him, so he turned to God. Daniel did not lose his confidence and trust in God, but his steadfast demeanor inspired not only the kings he served under but future generations as well (Daniel 6:10-27). What these men of God had in common is that they had no one but God to trust. Will our generation stop complaining and having a “want more” attitude and serve the Lord in a humble and submissive attitude?

Brother and sisters, in this day and age where Christians are increasingly experiencing persecution for their beliefs in the Lord Jesus Christ and the unchanging truth of the Word of God, we should encourage one another to faithfully keep serving the Lord and endure to the very end till Christ returns to take us Home (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18; 5:11).

Why Christians Should Fear The Lord

I (Brother Glenn) received a vision from the Lord early Thursday morning (13/02/2020). In the vision, I was standing in our back yard when my attention was drawn to thick dark clouds which were gathering and breaking up into sizable chunks covering the entire sky. As I looked at the phenomena right in front of me I felt a deep fear as it turned day light into total darkness (Joel 2:2; Zephaniah 1:15). 

I then immediately ran into the house to tell my family and just before I could speak, I heard a man as if announcing on television to the whole world, "This is the end of the world as we all know it". Soon after this announcement, I went outside again and I saw many people going about their lives as if nothing is going to happen (Revelation 22:11) And the vision ended!

Brief interpretation

We believe the dark clouds that are gathering and the announcement is a warning to the world that we are in the beginning  stages of the end times. As a ministry and family, we have been attacked by some brothers for sharing visions from the Lord especially related to the end times (Jeremiah 26:8-24) but we will continue to obey the Lord. 

Vision to Claudia 14/02/2020

During the early hours of Friday, I received a vision from the Lord. A warm, pure white bright light appeared to me and took me to a city with very tall buildings in the USA. While being in this white warm cloud, I looked down a very large and big hole opened up and I saw countless people and their cars falling into this hole (Numbers 16:32), then the vision ended! 

“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell" (Matthew 10:28 NLT). And 

"Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment" (Proverbs 9:10).

We pray that the will of the Lord God be made clearer to you all, and that you be found perfect in His will. We pray that you celebrate life through Christ this new year. 

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God (Ephesians 5:18-21 NKJV).

A simple search of the online Bible reveals that the word “fear” is used well over 100 times in reference to God. The Bible admonishes us not only to honor all people (including our leaders) and love our brothers and sisters in Christ,but to fear and honor the Lord as well (1 Peter 2:17 NKJV). Furthermore, the Word of God also teaches us that fearing God is required for one to gain wisdom (Proverbs 1:7; 9:10; 15:33; Psalm 111:10).

Initially, when we fear God, we spontaneously and submissively yield to His will in humble reverence and awe to His authority. The single best freedom humanity can enjoy for all time is Truth! Why? Because Truth sets us free (John 8:32)—no guilt, worry, fear, possessions, or fleshly desires are attached to truth. That Truth is Jesus Christ, and it is only through Him that we can have true freedom and eternal life (John 8:36; 14:6).

Naturally, when we correct our children (who have been taught in the ways of the Lord) after they have misbehaved, their response to our rebuke is often with reverence and with a sense of fear for God. As our Lord said, children are humble and more responsive to the fear of God than adults (Matthew 18:3-4). The Lord’s promise to us, as parents, is that if we bring up our children in the ways of the Lord, we would reap the benefit of them walking in the fear of God all the days of their lives (1 Samuel 1:21-28; Proverbs 22:6).

How We Lose our Fear of God

From the Bible, we learn that the fear of God is the foundation to attaining wisdom (Proverbs 1:7; 9:10; 15:33; Psalm 111:10). Alluding to this fact, the Word of God warns us to guard against and avoid “godless chatter” or “profane and idle babblings and contradictions” or “irreverent empty speeches” that the world considers to be “knowledge” or “staying informed”; these types of talks and arguments will surely dilute and deviate our faith (1 Timothy 6:20-21). In my experience, and from what I have observed, we indeed start losing our fear for God when we are drawn to other interests which direct us away from God. Some of these distractions are well explained in the Bible; for example worldliness, love of money, and addictions (1 John 2:15; James 4:4; 2 Corinthians 6:14). In addition to these, I have identified a few other influences that also contribute negatively to our relationship with God.

Desires: To us Christians, the Bible is God’s infallible Word which carries a life-changing and life-giving instruction to mankind. We read in the Bible how several people, who knew God and had a relationship with Him initially, defied His will and chose to walk contrary to His ways (2 Chronicles 24:17-19; 2 Timothy 4:10). Exercising God’s will is a choice, and defying sin brings us two victories: God’s acceptance of our obedience and freedom from guilt. Our weakness as humans is that our choices are often influenced by our desires, which come either through someone or something that our senses capture. For example, Adam and Eve gave into the devil’s temptation when Eve "saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom...."(Genesis 3:1-6). Likewise, David gave in to lust and committed adultery when he saw that “…the woman was very beautiful…” (2 Samuel 11:1-4).

Influence from others: Bad influence from others can also detract our choice for obedience (1 Corinthians 15:33). For example, two arrogant men, Azariah and Johanan, falsely accused the Prophet Jeremiah of lying, and they influenced the people to flee to Egypt, contrary to God’s warning (Jeremiah 43:1-7). Also, in the Garden of Eden, the serpent influenced Eve to sin, and in turn Eve influenced Adam (Genesis 3:6). Rehoboam, who succeeded his father Solomon as king over Israel, was influenced by the young men he had grown up with to impose greater burdens on the people. He rejected the wise counsel of the elders who had urged him to be a servant leader and serve his people with equity and kindness (1 Kings 12:1–15).

Fear of man: Many people often fall into the trap of rejecting Godly counsel in exchange for human counsel and sympathy; this is giving victory to the devil. In the Scriptures, such an attitude is best described by these words from King Saul: “I have sinned. I violated the LORD's command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gavein to them” (1 Samuel 15:24). During the time of Exodus, of the twelve men sent by Moses to spy the land of Canaan, only two (Caleb and Joshua) expressed confidence that God would help Israel conquer the land, and they urged the people not to have confidence in God and not rebel against Him, because the Lord was with them (Numbers 13:30; 14:6-9).The remaining ten spies were afraid and scared of “the giants”, so they discouraged the people and influenced them to rebel against Moses and Aaron (Numbers 13:31-33; 14:1-4, 10). The Hebrew midwives (Shiphrah and Puah) stood faithfully; they “… feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live” (Exodus 1:17). The prophet Daniel also, when he learned of the plot against him, was not afraid. Instead of giving in to fear, “he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days”(Daniel 6:10 NKJV). The Bible warns us that “fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe”(Proverbs 29:25). We should not fear man or seek to please others, but God alone (Isaiah 2:22; Isaiah 51:12; Galatians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 2:4; Colossians 3:23; 2 Corinthians 5:9; 2 Timothy 1:7).Moreover, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself reiterated that we should“not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28).

Possessions and power: Today’s economic environment is quite enticing to many. The explosion of goods, services, and flashy new technologies in the market makes it very easy for the devil to tempt us. Consequently, material things and thirst for power can separate us from God’s will (Matthew 19:16-23; Luke 8:14). There are some wealthy and influential people in this world whose power is their possessions and they have no fear of God. In their lust and greed for more material things, they reject eternal life—the most precious of all gifts—for worldly gain and the short-lived pleasure of sin (Luke 12:13-21; Hebrews 11:25). Sadly, many people are following them.

As a fact, today’s booming worldly entertainment media, such as television, movies, the Internet, videos and social media, promote the breakdown of family relationships and have become great stumbling blocks to godly living. In personal messages to many of us, the Lord admonished and encouraged us not to fear men. Although we are commanded to respect all men (1 Peter 2:17), we must not be afraid of their opinions of us, nor should we be ashamed of our convictions and our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 5:26-32).

Are You Living for God or for Your Own Pleasures?

Not too long ago, the Lord spoke to us in a vision, saying that we are hated by many Christians because of sharing His strong messages of rebuke against sin and wicked practices in the Church (John 17:14). We love doing the Lord’s work and our fear is for the Lord God alone. The Lord’s message is a strong warning against worldliness among Christians (Matthew 13:18-22; Romans 8:7).

As a ministry, the value we attach to truthful living and holiness far exceeds the luxuries of this life. While some may boast about their [temporary] power and earthly possessions, we know they are also driven by guilt and a strong fear of death. We should not value useless things above God and allow others to sway us from the path of truth; even in caring for others we must seek to please God (Matthew 7:13-14; 13:18-23). In the Book of Acts, we read about how Ananias and his wife Sapphira lost their lives as a result of greed for money and love of worldly possessions (Acts 5:1-11); what they treasured controlled them (Matthew 6:21). Using their example as a warning, we should not exchange the fear of God for anything; be it riches, power, or fame (Matthew 16:26). Instead, we should strive to faithfully and obediently serve God and allow nothing to separate us from Him (Romans 8:38-39). Like Job, we are encouraged to be wise by fearing the Lord and shunning evil (Job 1:1; 2:3; Proverbs 14:16; Ecclesiastes 12:13).

There are many Christian leaders who encourage us to “follow your heart” and “pursue your dreams.” The question we should ask ourselves is this: how do those dreams and plans in our hearts measure up to God’s will? Are those dreams only in pursuit of worldly happiness, comfort, and “success”, without the Cross of Jesus? If so, as the Lord Jesus explained in the Parable of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:16-21), your dreams are self-serving and for your own glory, and they will only inspire those who seek praise from man! In contrast, pursuing godly dreams through the cross of Jesus, despite persecution and hatred from the world, will lead to the salvation of others, resulting in glory to Christ. The Bible teaches us that Truth through the cross comes at the cost of insults, hatred and blood (Luke 6:22; John 15:18; 2 Timothy 3:12; 1 Peter 3:16; 4:12-14; 2 Corinthians 4:8-12). Do you think any of Christ’ followers conquered the world being applauded by the masses, without insults and hatred from the world which hates the truth? (Matthew 5:11; John 15:18).

Are you struggling with sins or temptations, be they thoughts, habits, addictions, or behaviors that drive you from the fear of God? Repent and conquer them in Jesus’ name, for the power is in your possession—choice (Genesis 4:6-7) and the Lord is willing to set you free (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 8:22; 1 John 1:9; Romans 6:6-7). Is the fear of man and of persecution holding you back from fearing God, serving Him, and doing His will? The Lord Jesus can set you free if you receive Him into your heart and follow Him as your Master, Lord, and Savior (John 8:32; 36). I, therefore, urge you to “...fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods… Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:14-15 NKJV).

Worldly Behaviour Displeases God

I received a vision from the Lord during the very early morning hours of Saturday (22/02/2020). In the vision, my family and I were together at home sleeping, it appeared to be very late at night (Matthew 25:6). I heard a loud voice and I just knew it was the LORD speaking and He called each one of us using the same words just using our names saying, "Cailin, My good and faithful (Matthew 25:23) servant come forth" (John 11:43). And immediately, I saw Cailin (our seven year old daughter) being transformed into a body of light flying through the roof and the sky and standing at the Lord's right hand side and the rest of us were called too and standing in the sequence we were called (Matthew 25:34). as I looked around I saw multitudes of other people also on the Lord's right hand side. end of vision!

Brief explanation

Brethren, the Lord is again warning us and exciting us to be ready and prepared for this great event the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18). Let us keep up the good work and continue doing the will of God. After this vision, I asked the Lord why Cailin (our 7 year old daughter) was being good and faithful since she never labored the Lord said, her obedience to us as her parents, her praying, bible reading and her participating in our ministry worship services and family devotional times makes her faithful in His eyes. Therefore, no brother or sister young or old should consider any contribution in terms of doing God's will as trivial. The Lord rewards every act of obedience that is done in His name and that brings Glory and honor to Him (1 Corinthians 10:31; Hebrews 6:10).

Brethren, this message is from God and it is serious. Don’t take it lightly; it is a warning! In previous articles (specifically Worldly Dressing, Appreciating the Way You Look, and Women in Pants and External Adornments), we have shared with you from the Lord that makeup and worldly dressing is worldly and goes against the Christian way of life, which is holiness and non-conformation to worldliness (Romans 12:1-2). Our message is a word of correction from the Lord.

This article on worldliness is a reminder from the Lord to Christians to stop embracing worldly principles and practices and to live as ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).This article is being presented to show that some things that Christians consider as normal are indeed worldly. We will therefore use Scriptural evidence to lead our convictions as well as some warnings we received from the Lord regarding worldly behaviour.

Satan, the god of this World

In order for us to understand Satan’s role in this world, we must acknowledge what the Bible says regarding him. Unfortunately, some people don’t believe in Satan’s existence and as the god of this sinful world (1 Corinthians 1:28). This rests entirely upon their faith as it requires faith to accept the Bible’s evidence and testimony about the devil. In this brief study, we will examine a few scriptures to satisfy ourselves with truth relating to Satan’s being and behaviour. The Bible says: “Regarding them: the god of this age (World) has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4; John 12:31).

From the above Scriptures, Satan is seen to be blinding people spiritually, so that they ignore the gospel of salvation. He is also the one using the various resource of the world to tempt and make us submissive to him (Matthew 4:8-9; Job 1:7). He is always at work in this world to destroy both the believing and unbelieving (1 Peter 5:8-9), again only faith and obedience in Christ alone gives us victory against his war for our souls (James 4:7). He is in the world not to make life easy for the human race, but to kill and destroy us (John 10:10), which reflects the current situation in the world today (Romans 1:20-32) He is a master deceiver and skillful in spreading lies and divisions between God and man (Genesis 3:1-5; Revelation 12:9).

Furthermore, Satan claims victory over those he controls and the end result is death (John 8:44-45; Ephesians 2:2; Romans 6:23). The ways of this world are sinfulness and the gratification of our carnal nature (Galatians 5:19-21; Romans 8:6-7). As it is, victory over Satan and sin is only through Christ Jesus, by faith in His redemptive work (Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 John 4:4; Revelation 12:11). We can only be more than conquerors if we don’t follow the ways of the world, which the above Scriptures declare as chasing after fleshly desires (Romans 8:37). Brethren, though some of our labour here is for the flesh, are we using the things here to control us or are we also working for The Lord and giving Him the glory (Luke 19:13-26)?

Remember, Satan operates through the spirit of lust, greed, selfishness and hatred, leading people in opposition to one another. To prove this, just read today’s sports headlines and business ads, "We are the best! We have more". Frankly, this is worldliness at best and this same spirit has made its way into the church. Christians and churches are now divided and are at war with one another for money and souls in order to attract more people and attention to themselves (1 Corinthians 3:1-4). This is not Christ’s way and command to the Church. His will is to unify and build the body up in perfect love and fruitful labour for the glory of God (Ephesians 4:13; 2 Corinthians 2:14-18).

Are You Friends With the World?

Broadly speaking, friendship with the world involves following the ways of the world through a continuous appetite for more and more worldly things (1 John 2:15-16). In addition, Christians have become very comfortable with many worldly activities and some of these activities are being celebrated in the Church today. In these celebrations, the Church practices being seen as ‘seasonal’, using relevant Scriptures to highlight such events. The point is: do such events promote obedience to Christ Jesus, or do they make the Church conform to the world and become relevant to the overall goal of the world leaders?

Like we shared in a previous article, the Lord considers every wrong thing we do as worldliness. Biblically, wrong things involves all things that goes against the Scriptures (James 4:17). Therefore, worldliness is anything that encourages us away from the Lord and leads us into some form of idolatry and habitual sinful desires (Colossians 3:5; 1 Peter 4:3).

We will consider some corrections on worldly behaviour from the Lord to us as a ministry and to others. Some few years ago, I was due to attend a meeting with my former pastor, so we asked the Lord what message I should take with me to the pastor. The Lord said that I should tell the pastor what things are permitted in the church and what should not be permitted. The Lord was referring to some incidents of worldly dancing and worldly music that were being performed in the church. There were also some plays that highlighted violence, drugs, and sexual lust. These scenes are all worldly and increase the appetite of the flesh.

While we understand that this message is intended to warn us against such behaviour, involving the perceptive senses to hear and visualize such events also brings desire. As it is, we make our message acceptable to the youth by depicting real life situations, when they already see all that on television and movies. Furthermore, worldly events like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Spring Day, Halloween, etc. are all designed to take attention from Christ and the cross, but bring focus to the celebration and idolizing of nature and persons. This also applies to worldly excursions, vacations to worldly places and beaches, or cruises which promote lust. Oftentimes, Christians who go on these journeys or vacations have little to no time for Bible reading and prayers. It ends up being a vacation from the Lord, while the Bible says that we should meditate on the Word day and night (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2; Psalm 119:97) and “Pray without Ceasing” ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17). I challenge every Christian: how do these events bring glory to Christ? And how do they benefit you spiritually to stop sinning? You might say that it draws attention to our church or message; yes it does, but was Jesus Christ really seen and glorified in this? (Matthew 5:14-16).

Worldliness in the Church

Moreover, there are many pastors who don’t find it worldly to sing worldly songs from the pulpit, or worldly songs masked as Christian songs. Not only are they doing that to become popular especially with the younger generation, but they also encourage their church members that it is not wrong and that such music does not interfere with our salvation. In truth, it does interfere with our salvation; anything that gives pleasure to the sinful nature is not from faith, and it is therefore sin (Romans 14:23). The God of the Bible, the One speaking to us, has warned several Christians against listening to worldly music, watching secular television and movies, and attending ungodly parties, indicating that doing these activities is being worldly. Surely, you know these appeal to the senses, leading to desire; this is an indulgence to the gratification of the flesh, isn't it? In this, does it show the nature of Christ in us or does it encouragement us to sin, for desire leads to fulfillment?

Finally, leading a worldly lifestyle is not acceptable to God. I have heard many pastors sharing dreams of luxury cars, magnificent buildings, and other worldly things this they believe will draw people to God because people will see how God has blessed them and "prospered" them, so they can desire the same things. Their sermons often manipulate Scripture to only focus on what "itching" ears want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3), such as God's "blessings" and "grace" for us to just live happy here on earth and have the best life here (John 16:33); they rarely mention living holy (1 Peter 1:13-16), Christ's soon return (Revelation 22:12), or God's judgment (2 Corinthians 5:10). This clearly portrays God wrongly! God's message of holy living and obedience is being exchanged for worldly things to show off; we cannot serve both God and material wealth (Matthew 6:24). While it is good to show how God blessed us with things, it should never be the motive to draw us to Him. This is exactly the ‘bait’ that the prosperity teachers are using (1 Timothy 6:10). They are pulling the masses to gain fame and enrich themselves through the tithes and offerings, all these being done at the expense of their member's salvation!

In conclusion, being friends with the world is accepting Satan as your ruler and father. If we make friends with people to just socialize with them on worldly terms, and not to fellowship in Christ, our union with them is benefiting our (and their) sensual needs for the "feeling good" of our nature like lust or desire. In Christ, however, we feed on what builds us up in Him (Philippians 4:8; Colossians 3:1-2; John 14:15) in our daily quest to crucify the sinful nature. Choose your friends for the good of the gospel and their salvation.

Beginning A New Life In Christ

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Brethren, this message, like all the messages we have shared previously, is from our Lord Jesus Christ Himself. During the past four years that the Lord has been speaking to us, He has taken a personal interest in our walk with Him through the various messages of encouragement and correction. Many brethren around the world who have heard the Lord for themselves can attest to this truth. Equally, there are many who have heard the Lord for themselves, but through a lack of faith and an appetite for wrong doing some have wandered from the Lord.

In utter disbelief, I have witnessed people ignoring the Lord’s warnings and doubting the very message that is Biblical in every way. Of the many who heard from the Lord, none can say they were led into wrongdoing. A truthful witness sides with the truth and disregards his own position or feelings on matters affecting his walk with God. If we love the truth, our reputation or integrity has no value; what matters is our fear for God.

Before our new life in Christ through conversion (Romans 10:9-10; John 3:3; Acts 16:31), we lived our lives without regard for God and His Word. In our old lives, we lived to only please others and ourselves, and we also approved the way others lived so that our way of life would also carry their approval. In Christ, however, and through the born-again experience, we are encouraged “like newborn babies, to crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:2 NIV). The Lord told us that salvation through Him leading to eternal life is very important, and that we should, “make every effort to enter through the narrow door…” (Luke 13:24). In our obedience to Him, the Lord said we should consider our lives in this world less important, for His sake and the gospel’s sake (Mark 10:29-30). The gospel is not just the preaching of the Word, but the outward witness through holy living of a grateful heart.

Furthermore, we express our appreciation to God for the gift of salvation through our obedience to Him by leading our lives to please Him (Romans 12:1-2; 1 John 3:9) and bear good fruit (Matthew 13:23). When we live in obedience to the Lord, we are living our lives for His good pleasure; we are dead to sin and the pleasures of this world (Romans 6:1-2; 1 John 2:15). This is the new life in Christ!  I am testifying the truth in Christ Jesus; the Lord said many people after giving their lives to Him start faithfully and when tests come they live double lives (Matthew 13:18-22). This He said is like an athlete who competes in a race and does not complete the race (Galatians 5:7). He said He has no reward for Christians living double lives, but Judgment (James 1:6-8). Let us therefore live for God in such a way that when we near the end of our lives, we can confidently declare like Paul, that we have completed the race (2 Timothy 4:7-8). In Scripture we read how Paul lived and surely it is worth following his example and way of life (1 Corinthians 11:1).

In addition, in his zeal for Christ and not living a double life, Paul encouraged the Thessalonian Christians how he lived in Christ among them and that they do likewise (1 Thessalonians 1:5). Brethren, this is no new message but a reminder to us to live our lives worthy of Christ Jesus (Ephesians 4:20-25).

The Lord’s Way

I have already given testimonies on how the Lord corrected us in regard to disobedience. I can truthfully testify that the Lord is very displeased when we deliberately disobey Him. It is like a son who despises his father’s instructions. He commands us to obey Him even at the expense of our lives (Matthew 10:37-39). Furthermore, most of the things the Lord corrects us on concern our inner attitudes, which even when someone insists on living by the ten (10) commandments would still fall short on. There is hatred, swearing, gossip, slandering and gluttony, just to mention but a few, which makes us fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). The sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit produces the fruit of holy living.

Therefore, as we confess our sins, we acknowledge our shortcomings and express our desire to live in obedience to the Lord. Our confession is an expression of faith when we apply our lives to the Scriptures (James 1:22).  In a vision recently, a man known to us who had faith in Christ but lived a double life died in a car accident. The Lord showed that his life of faith without works of obedience did not save him.

In the vision, Charis was made to understand what he was thinking. He was thinking about a message he heard me preach and he longed for that moment. I preached saying, "Don’t allow death to catch you by surprise!" His eyes were small and filled with regret, with sadness on his face as she heard the words by a witness saying, “I feel very sorry for that young man”. The message is clear; he did not make it to Heaven.

Once we accept the Lord Jesus as Savior, the Lord expects us to walk daily in the New Life.  Last month, a sister who accepted the Lord and joined our ministry about 9 months ago, was "suspended" by the Lord from ministering with us for six months because she did not walk faithfully after having been warned by the Lord to stop her wickedness. She was secretly smoking without us knowing until the Lord showed us in a vision. When we asked her, she admitted and gave glory to God. She is not allowed to minister in the Word like witnessing and praying in the corporate intercessory prayers. She is, however, attending regular weekly services and she must continue reading her bible and praying. The Lord said that those involved in sexual sins like adultery or fornication should not serve at the altar, that is why He made an example of this sister. Her suspension is a punishment and the purpose is to deter others while maintaining the purity of the ministry. We share this to tell you that the Lord wants us to walk purely before Him; He is coming back for a spotless bride (Ephesians 5:25-27).

In conclusion, I beseech you brothers and sisters: please take your salvation serious by living to obey the Lord daily. He expects us through this new life to read our Bibles daily and pray often (daily, about 3 times) (Daniel 6:10; Psalm 55:17; Thessalonians 5:17). Surely, Bible reading changes our attitudes and behavior. The conviction coming from the Holy Spirit through Bible reading leads us to obedience provided we submit to God. If there are some of us still living a double life and when we know we ought not to live our lives in Christ like that, there is a chance to make right with the Lord. Today is that chance, so please repent now (Hebrews 3:14-15; Hebrews 4:6-7)! Follow Christ Jesus daily and be about the Lord’s business every day. If not, the devil has the world and its pleasures to keep you occupied. Be therefore in the WORD business, the SOUL winning business and the OBEDIENT living business. By that we live a Christ-centered life.
